THE ONE I STOLE FROM HEAVEN

Dervis Dervisoglu

I have no recollection of Heaven.
Probably because I was never meant to be there.
One morning
I was just
reborn again.
And this dead tree with its burned out fruits at its foot,
standing at the side of my bed.
It must have once stud up high with all its glory
and its beauty.
With all its sweet and colourful fruits on its branches.
I must have destroyed it,
by stealing it from Heaven.

THE GOLDEN APPLE

It was the feast of King of Thessaly Peleus’us marriage to sea nymph Thetis. All the gods of mount Olympus was present at the feast except the goddess of strife Eris, who was not invited. The angry goddess tried to spoil the wedding by rolling a golden apple in the middle of it all. The apple had “to the fairest” in scripted on it. What happened next is very important to human history. This event cultivated the Trojan War which claimed countless innocent lives and affected the civilise world in many ways till present time. Still, it was a mortal man who was blamed for the outcome because he didn’t give adequate thought to his judgement before deciding who the Golden Apple should belong to between the three claimant goddesses. The goddesses were Hera, Athena and Aphrodite and their arrogance was legendary. To swing the mortal mans errand; Hera promised wealth and power, Athena wisdom and skill at war, but Aphrodite spread desire into his heart and offered the most beauties mortal woman in the living world at the time. The man in question was the son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba of Troy, Prince Paris. The fairest mortal woman turned out to be Queen Helen, daughter of Zeus and Leda, wife of Spartan Melenaus. At the time all the kings of Greece sward their Love for her and promised to protect her from wrong doing.
Prince Paris kidnapped Helen from Sparta and brought her to Troy. Most of the kings of Greece sited with King of Sparta and under his brother Agamemnon siege Troy for many years. Outcome was disastrous. Troy was destroyed and many brave Greek and Trojans vanished. Surviving Trojans who haven’t been slaved went far away and created some other settlements which one of them become Rome. Even the conquers of Troy haven’t been able to escape the punishment of gods and goddesses of Olympus.

The hidden Golden Apples

Eris, the goddess of strife had plenty more Golden Apples in hand from the Golden Apple tree in her garden. Gods of Olympus removed the Apple tree from its grounds to another hidden location to prevent Eris striking again. Ever since the golden Apples have been piling under the apple tree out of anybodies reach.
If you are to be presented one of these Golden Apples; what would you want the inscription on it to say?
           for Aphrodite.           To the fairest

I would like to offer you one of the Golden Apples if your request for the inscription on your apple is relieved. email your answer to Art Quest as "Golden Apple".

Spring of my life

Dervis Dervisoglu
At the spring of my life,
I came across to a beauty.
I wish I was blinded
I wish I was brain-dead
before I set my eyes on her.
Falling in love that is
like a deep ring of fire.
There is no joy in it.
There is no respond for it.
It has no reward.
No escape from it.
I wish that;
All the ones who get cherished,
and never love,
get admonish
for my sin.
But it doesn’t work that way;
Life is mean
Love is cruel
Gods and Goddesses are
remorseless.

Place your thoughts and feelings in writing and/or in droving on the "Broken Hearted Tree"
You can email "Art Quest" as "to Broken Hearted Tree" to place your thoughts and feelings on the tree and on this blog.

Missing Cypriots

Installation; 10,000.00URO

Set up in the early 1980s, The Committee of Missing Persons (CMP) includes one representative from each community in the divided eastern Mediterranean island and an official appointed by the United Nations. Its task is to locate and identify remains of Turkish Cypriots and Greek Cypriots who disappeared in the early 1960s when inter communal fighting broke out and during the 1974 Turkish military intervention.

Some 2,000 people were reported missing during the two periods. To date, the remains of more than 750 individuals have been exhumed and the remains of more than 260 have been returned to their families.

At the mean time; this is what I feel about Cyprus;
